Welcome To The Practice

The outbreak of Covid-19 is placing new and increasing challenges on all our member practices and our primary concern is to ensure the safety of our patients and staff

For the very same reason this practice, in line with all those in the area, has decided to put measures into place to reduce and minimise the risks of transmission. This risk is for you as our patient but also for the staff who work here in the practice. These measures may vary slightly in individual practices but we ask for your co-operation and patience in supporting the actions. This will ensure that we are still able to deliver the necessary care to all our patients.

National guidance from NHS England has mandated that all online booking appointments are suspended across the country. The reason we have done this is that this mitigates any potential risk of infected patients booking an appointment online and attending the surgery.

We are asking all patients to complete an eConsult (see box below) in the first instance.  The GP will triage the eConsult and a face to face appointment will be booked if felt appropriate.  eConsult is for non-urgent problems only.

The facility to  request prescriptions online is still available to all patients.

"Please note – eConsults will be responded to by the end of the next working day.  If you have an urgent issue please ring the practice (in hours) or NHS 111 (out of hours). We are open Monday – Friday so eConsults submitted over the weekend will be reviewed and responded to by Tuesday of the following week”

eConsult. Want advice from your doctor, self-help information or have an administrative request (such as a sick note or test results)? eConsult and get a response before the end of the next working day or sooner. Get started.

We would like to reassure all our patients that we are continuing to work with NHS England, the CCG and Public Health to make sure that what we are doing is always in the best interest of our patients and our staff.

Regular updates are provided on our websites

We would like to thank all our patients for their co-operation and understanding.

When attending the surgery, please remember to wear a face covering, it does not have to be medical grade.  It can be a scarf or bandana that ties behind the head.  We are veery sorry but we are not able to supply face masks for patients.

From Monday 13th July we will be operating a one way system through the surgery.  Please enter the building via the main door, press the buzzer to speak to a member of our team via an intercom.  Before you enter the building you will be asked to used the hand sanitising station in the foyer.  Please wait in the waiting room until the Clinician is ready to see you.  After your appointment, please leave the building by following the arrows.  A further hand sanitising station is located near the rear exit.

For patients attending Grappenhall Surgery, please enter the foyer and press the buzzer to speak to the receptionist.  If you have an appointment you will be asked to use the hand sanitising station located in the foyer before  being admitted to the waiting room.  Following your appointment please exit the building via the same door.

Requesting Repeat Prescriptions

You can request prescriptions in writing by posting your prescriptin in the box located in the foyer or by using Systemone online.  We are requesting patients to nominate a pharmacy for their prescription to be sent to rather than coming to the surgery to collect it.

Alternatively you can download and sign up for the NHS app.  You can verify your ID on the app without coming into the surgery.

For any general information on coronavirus please visit

If you are completing an econsult for a skin or joint condition,  please attach a photograph of the condition to your econsult.  Thank you

It is now easier for you to see a GP in the evenings and at weekend.

Easily accessible, the Health and Wellbeing Centre is in the town centre and has links to public transport on the town’s main bus routes. To access an out of hours’ appointment or to sign up for GP online access please call your own GP who will give you the telephone number and password needed to book the appointment.
